How do I use the Lumin?
The Lumin is a single button device. It really could not be any easier. First wipe the inside of your mask and cushion with a wipe to remove any physical residue. If cleaning your humidifier water chamber, open the chamber and place in the drawer face up. If cleaning your mask, lay your mask in the drawer face up. Close the drawer and press the button. In 5 minutes the cycle is complete and your mask and water chamber are ready for use.
How often do I need to clean my CPAP accessories?
You should take care to maintain a proper CPAP cleaning schedule for your machine’s accessories. 3B recommends that you clean your CPAP accessories at least twice a week. A quick 5 minute cleaning cycle will ensure that your accessories are ready to use. In addition, always follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for continued care of your equipment to maximize the life of your machine, mask and accessories.
How does Lumin work?
Lumin works by emitting high energy light within a narrow spectrum referred to as UV. The Lumin relies on a low-pressure, mercury-arc lamp designed to produce the highest amounts of UV energy – where 90% of energy is generated around 254nm.
Which accessories does the Lumin sanitise?
The Lumin will clean any item that can fit in the drawer. It is designed to handle most CPAP masks, hoses and water chambers.
Will Lumin damage my CPAP mask or accessories?
No. While long exposure times to UVC can weaken plastics and silicone, the Lumin cycle time is only 5 minutes. One year of daily use amounts to 30 hours of actual exposure time. In accelerated aging tests, 3B has validated no damage to plastics or silicone in over 150 hours of testing, roughly equivalent to 5 years of daily use.
Why doesn’t the Lumin use Ozone, like other CPAP cleaners?
Because 3B Medical is a manufacturer of CPAP equipment, masks, and accessories, we have a heightened level of commitment and concern for our patients. We did not feel that the safety concerns of ozone being used in the home were being adequately disclosed. Due to the lifestyles of many of our patients, we also had concerns that the two hour wait period in using CPAP equipment might be ignored and harmful ozone inhaled. For that reason, in designing the Lumin, care was taken to find a fast and effective way to clean CPAP masks and accessories.
Does Lumin cause an odour?
UV light has no odor. The vast majority of Lumin customers experience no odor. If there is an odor it is likely similar to the smell of burnt hair. Household dust is 90% composed of dead skin cells. Skin, like hair, contains a sulfide molecule. UV cleans with high energy light. That process also frees the sulfide molecule in a skin or hair molecule. If your unit has an odor please wash thoroughly with a damp cloth using Dawn liquid detergent and dry with a paper towel. Run one cycle with the drawer empty and let the device sit overnight. Next day, your unit should have no odor.
What do I do if my device has an odour?

Is Lumin covered by Health Insurance?
Please check with your fund before purchase. Some Funds may provide a rebate for medical aids and appliances. The value may be dependent on membership levels and there can be an annual limit.
Private: What are the advantages of UV over Ozone cleaning?
There are a number of competitive devices that use ozone. Marketing of these devices typically conceal the use of ozone by referring to it as “activated oxygen”. 3B Medical felt very strongly that use of a ozone was incompatible with use in a home. Safe use of ozone systems require a waiting period of up to 3 hours.
What is the Lumin Bullet?
Lumin Bullet is designed to clean your CPAP hose.
How does it work?
The Lumin Bullet works with a powerful LED that emits ultraviolet light. That light is reflected 360° to reach every area of your CPAP hose. The hose interior only requires 1 second of exposure to be cleaned.
Does it attach to the Lumin?
The Lumin Bullet is a stand alone accessory. The original Lumin device is NOT needed to use the Bullet.
Does it require batteries?
No. The Lumin Bullet works off of a USB charger. Once fully charged the Bullet will glow green, indicating it’s ready to use. Your fully charged Bullet will last up to 30 uses.
Which way do I insert the bullet inside the hose so it stays in place?
The Bullet is designed with magnets inside. When the Bullet is inserted into the hose, “nose” first the correctly situated magnets will “grip” on to the Bullet. Ensuring your hose is stable.
Do I get a price break with the purchase of both the Lumin and Lumin Bullet?

Why is the blue light blinking?
The UV LED operates at a wavelength that is not visible to the human eye. A second blue indicator light flashes to let you know that the Lumin Bullet is working.
What is the warranty? and what does it cover?
The Lumin Bullet is covered under warranty for a period of 1 year from purchase. We guarantee your Bullet device to be free from defects for this time period.
How do you clean the Lumin Bullet?
The Lumin Bullet and the outer shell may be wiped with a clean lint free cloth. Please do not submerge parts into water. If extra cleaning is needed a damp cloth and mild soap may be used to remove grime.
How should I store the Lumin Bullet to not run down it’s charge or lose the Bullet component?
Always place the Bullet inside the clamshell case for protection. Close the clasp and store in a dry area. The magnets will “grip” the Bullet and keep it safely inside the casing.
Is Lumin Bullet compatible with every CPAP hose?
Lumin Bullet is universally compatible for use on most popular CPAP tubing brands. The Lumin Bullet, however, is not compatible with the ResMed ClimateLineAir™ Heated Tube for AirSense™ 10
